- Begin by taking a few deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth. This can help you relax and get centered.
- As you continue to breathe, focus your attention on the sensation of the breath moving in and out of your body. Try to breathe with your diaphragm, rather than shallowly with your chest.
- Some qigong practices involve specific breath patterns, such as inhaling and exhaling through the nose, or exhaling through the mouth. Follow the specific instructions for the qigong practice you are doing.
- As you continue to practice, try to elongate your exhales, slowly and smoothly exhaling as much air as possible. This can help to relax your body and mind.
- Pay attention to how your breath feels as it moves in and out of your body. Notice any tension or discomfort in your body, and try to relax and let go of these sensations as you breathe.
- Keep your focus on your breath, and try to let go of any distracting thoughts or worries. If your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to your breath.
- When you are finished with your qigong practice, take a few deep breaths to help ground and center yourself before returning to your day.
Remember to be patient with yourself as you learn to incorporate breathwork into your qigong practice. It may take time to develop your breath control and focus, but with practice, you can learn to use your breath to enhance your qigong practice and promote overall well-being.
